At this
time there are ~40,000 customers out of service in the service territory. Over
31,000 are in Southern Region. The main contributor will likely be the rain
from last night freezing on the wires couple with heavy wet snow and high
winds. Expect in some cases for crews to have issues with accessing areas that
are unreachable by road.
ComEd
is taking the necessary steps to assure crews are ready should power
interruptions occur as a result of this severe weather. As a reminder, we have
created a number of new communications tools for customers. A couple to
highlight are:
1. Customers can text in their outages and receive updates via text
messaging from ComEd. All they need to do is sign up. Visit ComEd.com/Text
2. We have also made great strides on our ComEd.com outage map. With ComEd’s outage map,
customers can view all outages in the ComEd service area at once and zoom in
and get details on specific areas, such as the estimated restoration time &
status of crews working to resolve problems. Visit ComEd.com/Map
Municipal
Leadership- Please have your list of
pre-determined critical facilities containing account numbers ready for use. Be
sure your Public Works Department has that information. Should you have a service
interruption, please call in a ticket and include the account number.
When
you do call in a ticket to 800-376-7693, be sure to include the following:
1. Type of facility
2. Impact
3. Does it have back up generation?
4. Include a cell number in the event we need to reach you
Do
not assume we know your location is out of service. If you cannot locate your
listing of critical facilities, please email me and I will get those to you
ASAP.
