Trick Or Treat Hours


Curbside leaf vacuum service

City of Wilmington Residents, 

The City of Wilmington curbside leaf vacuum service is currently being delayed due to do equipment failure. Once the Public Works Department has fixed the leaf vac vehicle it will be back on the streets. To find out more information on the leaf vacuum services call the Wilmington Public Works Department at 815-476-3104.

During this time, please take advantage of the lawn waste services provided by Waste Management. Leaves along with all yard waste materials can be placed in “Kraft” paper bags designed and sold specifically for the collection and disposal of yard waste. Waste Management has available for rent or purchase 96-gallon carts to homeowners for the purpose of disposing of yard waste. If you would like obtain a yard waste cart please contact Waste Management directly at 1-800-796-9696.

Waste Management will end its collection of yard waste materials (i.e. trimmed branches, shrubbery, leaves, grass clippings) for the 2014 season on November 28th. Yard waste is collected by Waste Management once per week on the same day as the refuse collection. All yard waste items placed out for collection by residents must be at the curb by 6:00 a.m.

Branches and brush must be bundled and tied with string or twine (not wire). Branches must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less, and each branch should be no larger than 4 inches in diameter. Each bundle must not weigh more than 50 pounds.

Political Signs

City of Wilmington Residents and Business Owners:
It’s election season, and political signs are popping up everywhere. All political signage must adhere to the following regulations:
• Location - Signs cannot be placed on any property without the consent of the current legal property owner. Signs cannot be placed on public rights-of-way. 
• Setback - Signs shall be setback at least twenty-five (25) feet from the edge of pavement of any adjacent street.
• Size – Sign cannot exceed 16 square feet.
• Display Period - There is no limit on the display period for political signs to the extent provided by 65 ILCS 5/11-13-1.
• Number of Signs - There is no limit on the number of political signs that can be displayed.
The City will remove any signs that are illegal or deemed to create safety concerns for pedestrians or motorists.
